In accordance with the spirit of the Company Creed of “Fairness (To be fair and bright), Innovation (To be active and innovative), and Harmony (To respect each other and cooperative),” the goal is to become a proud corporate group that contributes to social and economic development and to global environmental conservation through fair and transparent business activity. In order to become a company that can coexist and prosper with the environment and society, while maintaining sustainable growth, it is necessary to achieve a balance between value and evaluation for the three spheres of economic activities to generate profits, society and the environment. Achieving this balance is the goal of CSR management. The Marubeni Group aims to earn the trust of all stakeholders by implementing CSR management as a corporate group with high ethical standards.
The CSR management of the Marubeni Group cannot be achieved only through the thoughts and actions of the group employees. It is crucial to always be receptive to the opinions of stakeholders and devising measures together, as well as implementing them. Marubeni is building the foundations for a sustainable corporate group by earning the trust of our various stakeholders and working to fulfill expectations and deliver benefits.
CSR management at Marubeni is being implemented based on the policies outlined below, including the Company Creed. In the implementation of CSR management, there is also attention paid to international regulations and guidelines to clarify the important issues, and to verify the directions of our activities.

Based on our stakeholders’ expectations and concerns, and Marubeni’s impact on the environment and society, we identify and address issues that have high materiality in line with the following two themes.
CSR action Plans and Targets are created to show the relevance of the important CSR issues to the planning and targets of each business group and the corporate staff groups; and, progress reports are issued periodically.
We believe that the important CSR issues must be constantly reviewed as the society and environment surrounding the Company continue to change. Specifically, we perform regular reviews through dialogs with stakeholders and checks of the expectations from society, as well as constantly analyzing the impact on the company.
Marubeni has established a CSR & Environment Committee within the business execution system of the corporate governance structure as an entity to share and promote CSR activities throughout the company. The CSR & Environment Committee discusses the basic policies for activities of the Marubeni Group related CSR and to preservation of the global environment, including risk management for the supply chain, and measures on climate change and the preservation of biodiversity. The committee also receives reports on activities frim business groups and the various departments of the corporate staff groups. The content that is reported to and discussed by the committee is reported to the Corporate Management Committee, and is useful for increasing cooperation on finding solutions for social issues.
There are also “CSR promotion representatives” assigned in corporate staff group departments and each business group represented on the CSR & Environment Committee in order to strengthen the CSR activities at the group level. In addition to participation in discussion on the content of the activities to strengthen CSR, they also participate in seminars and hands-on workshops to acquire greater understanding of CSR. These CSR Leaders play an important role in conveying the importance of the CSR activities of the Marubeni Group within the organization.
