A consortium of Marubeni Corporation (“Marubeni”), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (“MHI”) and Hangzhou Steam Turbine Co., Ltd. (“HTC”) is awarded a supply contract for BFG Combined Cycle Power Plant (Gas Turbine) by a Chinese world leading stainless producer, Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd., (“TISCO”) under Taiyuan City Environmental Improvement Project, and contract became effective.
Source of the fund for this supply contract is the Loan Agreement (so called Yen Credit) concluded between the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. This equipment utilizes waste gas from Blast Furnace and Coke Oven in the steel complex to generate electricity, which contributes energy saving and environmental improvement. For Marubeni, this award is the second consecutive order from TISCO next to a supply contract for “Electric Arc Furnace” effective in July 2006.
Through the competition with American and Chinese suppliers, the contract was given to Marubeni’s consortium as a result of TISCO’s consideration for Marubeni’s ability to coordinate and promote the project itself, and MHI’s full engineering capability and rich supply experience in this field, especially for MHI’s huge reduction volume of CO2 emission resulting from its high efficiency in recovering waste gas.
Recently all the major iron and steel producers over the world pay a serious attention to control waste gas and energy-saving under the name of preservation and improvement of environment.
Marubeni would like to develop and contribute such an energy saving and environmental control with Japanese major suppliers.
